Everyone receives direct mail from companies selling products and services. Unless these companies are told that someone has died, they will continue to send mailings to that person.
The Bereavement Register is a free-of-charge service which helps stop direct mail being sent to the deceased, thus reducing stress levels.
Once registered there should be a significant reduction in direct mail within six weeks, and virtually none within six months.
However, if you continue to receive direct mail after the initial six weeks, you can put these items in an envelope and send them to The Bereavement Register so that officials can contact offending companies on your behalf.
